Q. What qualifies an item as vintage?
A. In my opinion, vintage is anything that was produced over 25 years ago. This is very
debatable in the fashion community right now. The term is becoming more of a descriptive
word.
Q. Which era is most popular?
A. There seems to be a 60's 70's and 80's influence in the market today.
Q. Why are you only selling dresses and accessories?
A. Dresses and accessories are very easy pieces to wear. I want to provide women with
fashion that would blend into whatever they may have in their closets.
Q. What sizes are available?
A. We have dresses Small to Large and 0 to 18. I think that all women of all shapes and
sizes and ages can come together at the market and get fashion ideas from each other.
Q. What are the Spring trends?
A. Spring 2008 is exciting. We are seeing a variety of trends that every
woman can embrace. The top five are:
1. Primary Colors (red, blue and yellow)
2. 80's Brights (lime, hot pink, orange)
3. Classic Black and White
4. Soft Pastels and Florals
5. Ethnic Patterns
Q. What are the advantages to wearing a vintage dress?
A. Wearing something vintage is a great way to recycle, and show off your individual style.
Q. How can you wear vintage without it looking costumey?
A. You should always pair vintage with a current trend or classic item. No one wants to look
like Marsha Brady. However, Marsha would be fire right now with some pointy toe shoes,
a clutch and chestnut brown Angelina hair.....I'm sure you get the picture! It's also about
confidence! If you have that, you can pull off any look!
Q. Where is Fashion Fusion 08 located?
A. We are based out of Chicago. You can find us under the red tent at the Maxwell Street Market
on Roosevelt and Canal every Sunday starting in April (click here for photos from the market). You can also find us on Ebay!
Q. Where are the items purchased from that are being sold?
A. I purchase all of the dresses and some of the accessories from thrift stores. The money that I spend
buying the dresses goes to great charities and non-for profit organizations. When you buy a dress from
Fashion Fusion you are also helping to support Goodwill, Salvation Army and the Children's Memorial
Hospital. Occasionally I will buy current trend handbags and jewelry from other sources. This creates the
“fusion”. It allows the customer to mix vintage pieces with modern pieces.
Q. What makes Fashion Fusion so unique?
A. Not everyone has the time (or passion) to go to a thrift store and search through rack after rack in
hopes of finding that one amazing dress. Celebrities hire stylists to do it for them. Let's face it thrift stores
are not everyones cup of tea. Fashion Fusion is a place that you are going to come to and know that
the inventory is stylish, wearable, of the moment and won't break the bank!
Q. What does the future hold for Fashion Fusion?
A. I would love to open a Boutique one day. I think that would be the next step. I believe that sometimes
in business, you have to crawl before you walk and I am happily taking baby steps to get to the next
level.
